Bloggers' Quilt Festival-BQFF Quilt

At the beginning of 2006 Me and My Best Quilty Friend Forever Michelle (AKA Ms. Goody Two Shoes) decided to start making and swapping blocks. For each block we made, we made one for each other. We spent our whole retreat that year choosing fabric and making blocks. This carried on for months. We live over an hour from each other and did most of our consulting by phone and computer. We choose the blocks based on our personalities, our history's, our favorites and our friendship. We both have last names that begin with an H. We love angels, hearts, Bee Skeps and sheep. We traced our hands for the heart in hand blocks. We are both patriotic. Most of the pieced blocks have cool names that we felt had meaning for us like Memory, Sisters Choice, Thrifty, Churn Dash/Monkey Wrench, Friendship Star, Pennsylvania etc.

This is Michelle's Quilt before borders. I am embarrassed to say I could not find one of the finished quilt.

Here is my quilt after the borders were put on. That is Michelle holding it up.

Here is my finished quilt. I do use it and I always take it with me to retreat with my Quilty Pals. I love having a reminder of My Sister in Stitches and I working together. We continue to have a great friendship and encourage each other creatively and otherwise.

Flora and Fauna

Spring has sprung! I had to go out and take some photos of all the signs of Spring. I am not sure how many nests are on our property. The Robins and others have been very busy. Many blossoms are getting ready to burst.
This is the state flower of Pennsylvania.

The Mountain Laurel. It is so lovely and kind of delicate looking.

Hello you can't have nice weather without the lowly Dandelion. This one is rather large. They are my Sweet Hubby's arch enemy. Personally I think the lawn looks pretty with little yellow flowers growing in it. ;-) Who can resist blowing on one when they turn all white and fluffy. Not me. Me and the little one do our best to continue this tradition much to the dismay of my Sweetie.

Uh oh, here is another giant one!

Here is another nest I discovered this morning when I opened the curtain in my bedroom. I will let you know if she lays some little eggs.

I have been stitching and breaking in my Janome. So far the rumors are true it is a very nice machine. I plan on working on some bindings later.

I cannot believe...

It has been so many days since my last post. I have been busy stitching up a storm. I have two quilts waiting for binding and one waiting for borders.

I made my blocks for the Siggy Swap. I am pretty happy with how they turned out.

We had a wonderful Easter. My Sweet Nerdy Hubby and my Little One both have been home since last Wednesday. We dyed eggs and made some really cute cupcakes (I forgot to take a photo). We made a traditional Ham dinner. All in all it was a wonderful holiday. Today is the last day of Spring Break. The little one has a buddy over for the day. The Hubby is sleeping in. We will have one more meal of ham later. :-)

I must have been good this year. The Easter Bunnies at my house gave me these nice gifts. A fabulous double decker basket filled with a Cardinal (I feel lucky whenever I see a real cardinal), a card with the Little One's voice(priceless), a fifty dollar gift certificate for Quilters' Quarters and a new book from Fig Tree called The Pastry Shoppe. I have to say I have not gotten anything for Easter since I was a child. It was very exciting! I really like it! Thanks Easter Bunnies!

I hope you had a wonderful Holiday too! God Blessed Us all!
